Today, my world was rocked to its foundations. My wife Sue collapsed at work and was rushed to the emergency room. I was home, where the Boeing security people finally reached me. When I got to the hospital, Sue was in getting a cat scan. At that point I discovered that, rather than a mere faint, they suspected she had a brain aneurysm which was confirmed by the cat scan.
Sue has been sedated and on a breathing tube since the
paramedics got to her at work. She was having a good day, apparently and some
workmates heard her laughing, then a gurgling sound. They thought she was
kidding around, but quickly realized something was wrong. They went to her, and
she collapsed from her chair. One workmate did CPR, while the others called 911
and Boeing Security/Medical. Response was fast.
As a result of the aneurysm, she has pulmonary edema quite
badly. Her lungs are filling with fluid and they think it will take the next
couple of days to get that under control before they can consider operating on
the aneurysm. She is in the critical care unit and in good hands. Her nurse
this evening is Angie. The main concern with the hemorrhage is the pressure in
her brain. According to the cat scan they took this afternoon that looks OK
right now.
Of course, if the pressure in her brain increases, they may need
to do an emergency procedure to relieve the pressure.
If I seem a bit matter of fact, please don’t be fooled. This is
pretty scary. Fortunately, I had a dozen church friends over there tonight, and
people all over the country praying, which I greatly, truly and deeply
appreciate.
Sue has a cat scan at 6 am Saturday morning Pacific time, so
please pray for encouraging results there.
It's at times like this when i realize there are whole hospitals full of people in the same boat, so please pray them and their families too.
God bless you all.
