OK, it's been a pretty good week financially. It just so happened that this year annual raise time at the world famous aerospace company coincided with Holy Week. Also, I did our taxes last night and it seems that an unexpectedly substantial amount of moolah will be flowing back from Uncle Sam to us. Heh. So there's factor #1.
As I was driving home from the Maundy Thursday service (incredible) I was listening to the worship album Offerings by Third Day, one of my all time favorites. Factor #2.
If you've never heard of Third Day or Offerings you're probably rolling your eyes at the phrase "worship album". But you'd be so, so, so absolutely wrong to do that. Why? Because it is simply the best worship album that ever will or can be. I kid you not.
You say most worship albums are insipid crap? I'd agree with you. But this one isn't. It encompasses everything from out and out rock to gentle acoustic ballads and every stop in between. Well, maybe it lacks a Tori Amos "I'm Going to Slit My Wrists Any Minute Now If You Don't Stop Me" kind of track, but it has everything else.
From the haunting Thief (today being St Dismas day, too, factor #3) to the insanely fabulous guitar hero work on the Pentecost themed Consuming Fire to the acoustic magic of You're Everywhere this album evokes different images of God at every turn. An average five star review from 101 amazon reviews can just not be wrong. Trust me.
So I got to thinking, between the financially rewarding week and the brilliance of the album, why not share the wealth?
So, I decided I'll give away three copies of this album to people who don't have it but who would like to have a copy. All you have to do is ask via comment, with even a half-assed reason for wanting a copy, and send me a mailing address via email so I can send you a copy via amazon.com. While I expect most of my readers are either in the US or the UK (to which amazon has easy reach), don't be put off if you're from elsewhere. Heck, I could even give you an iTunes gift voucher if it came to it. (Hmm, there's a thought.)
So here goes. Let's see how free stuff from blogs works out.
BTW, did I mention the free stuff?
